Whether you call it a living room, family room, or den, this room is a place to unwind, recharge, and spend time with family and friends.

With an empty living room space, you have multiple options for decorating. To get started on your decorating project, you will need the money to purchase or rent your items and an idea of what kind of style you prefer in your living room space. From traditional to more contemporary, you can follow these guidelines for decorating.

Clean the space so you have an empty canvas to work from. If you have hardwood floors, sweep them and determine if you need to have the floors mopped and/or buffed. For carpet flooring, first vacuum the floors and decide if you need professional carpet cleaning.

Find the focal point of the room to determine how to purchase and place furniture. Your focal point could be a great view from large bay windows or it could be a fireplace.

Measure your space to fit the type of furniture that you prefer. If seating is a priority, be sure you have space for a large couch, a love seat, an over-sized chair and ottoman or recliner, depending upon what you like. Determine which additional pieces of furniture you may need such as tables, book shelves and entertainment center.

Shop and purchase the relevant furniture to fit your space. Pick out furniture with attractive colors and patterns so that they compliment your room. Depending upon the existing color of the room, chose furniture patterns. You may need to repaint your room prior to placing the furniture.

Move your furniture into the space. Determine what accessories you need, such as curtains, ceiling fan, wall hangings, accent pillows, rugs, lamps, accent figurines or decorations.

Place appropriate AV equipment, if desired. Include a television, stereo, video player and/or gaming equipment.

When I talk about fashion, I can’t help thinking about this sentence: ” Only fashion goes out of fashion, and that’s fashion that catches on” (translation from the French :”Il n’y a qu’une chose qui se démode:  la mode, et c’est la mode qui emporte le succès”)

What’s a boyfriend jean?

it’s either literally a pair of guy’s jeans, or a pair of jeans that looks and fits like it was borrowed from a guy – loose fit, low rise, cuffed hems. Of course, this look doesn’t exclude single ladies. There are plenty of budget-friendly boyfriend jeans available for purchase in stores everywhere – no boys required.

 

Now obviously, depending on your size and your boyfriend’s size, you don’t have to literally steal a pair of jeans from your guy to rock this trend. Instead, you can buy this style of jeans in a store, or pick up a pair of smaller guy’s jeans at a vintage shop. To save money, I recommend buying these vintage or stealing from a guy, because this is such a trendy item that will be out of style fast. No point buying new “boyfriend jeans” if you ask me lol!

The best ways to wear it

 Here are some tips on the best ways to wear the boyfriend jean for that effortlessly chic look

Roll up the cuffs.

If your jeans are short enough, you won’t need to do this, but if they’re super long, you’ll need to cuff the bottoms. Roll them above your ankles if you’re wearing heels, or just below if you’re wearing flat sandals. Having your jeans drag along the ground is never a good look.

With ballet flats, sandals, or heels.

These jeans are made to show off your ankles and feet, so don’t wear boyfriend jeans with boots or sneakers. Instead, wear ‘em with a pair of gladiator sandals, flip flops, high heels, or ballet flats to add cute details.

Keep the rest of your look relaxed and casual.

 

Boyfriend jeans look best with a plain tee or tank and minimal accessories. It’s a look that’s very low maintenance and informal, so don’t try too hard with your top and accessories.

With a leather belt.

Since boyfriend jeans are usually really big and baggy, you’ll probably need a belt to keep them up. Even if you don’t, a belt makes a great addition to the outfit. Bonus points if you wear a plain leather belt that looks like it could have been borrowed from a boy too.

Just remember, when you put together an outfit with boyfriend jeans at the focus, keep it simple. Because the jeans themselves are going to be baggy, you do want to achieve some balance with tighter tops, dainty shoes, and feminine jewelry, but don't go overboard. Just a piece here and there and you'll be looking good!

Kimora Lee Simmons (born Kimora Lee Perkins on May 4, 1975) is an American fashion model, author, and the president and Creative Director for Phat Fashions. Formerly the Creative Director of Baby Phat, Simmons became CEO of Phat Fashions after ex-husband Russell Simmons stepped down. A 2007 reality television show,

Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane, focuses on her life as a mother and CEO of Phat Fashions. She has appeared in music videos and was a judge on the first season of America's Next Top Model. She was scheduled to return to the show as a judge starting with cycle 14; however, she changed her plans and will not return to the show as judge.

Early life

Simmons was born in St. Louis, Missouri and is of Asian and African American descent. Simmons was the target of schoolyard bullying and teasing, because of her height (she was 5 feet, 10 inches tall by the time she was 10 years old) and mixed ancestry. To help Simmons, her mother enrolled her in a modeling class when she was eleven years old.

Two years later she was discovered by Marie-Christine Kollock (a representative for seminal Paris Agency Glamour) at a Model Search in St. Louis (organized by Kay Mitchell) and sent to Paris.

Simmons was awarded an exclusive modeling contract with Chanel and just after her thirteenth birthday, went to work under the tutelage of famed Chanel designer, Karl Lagerfeld. She quickly gained attention in the fashion world when Lagerfeld closed his haute couture show with Simmons, who strutted down the runway decked out as a child bride. "Everything people thought was weird about me before," Simmons told People Weekly, "was now good".

Fashion business

In 2004 Russell Simmons sold Phat Farm to Kellwood Company for $140 million. When Russell stepped down as CEO of Phat Fashions LLC in September 2007, Kimora — who was already Creative Director of Baby Phat (which was a branch off Phat Farm Industries) — was promoted by Kellwood to President and Creative Director of Phat Fashions.

It is Simmons' goal to fashion Baby Phat, launched in 1999, into an "aspirational lifestyle brand." Her couture line, KLS, launched in fall 2007. She has also launched four perfumes for women: Goddess, Golden Goddess, Seductive Goddess and recently, Baby Phat Fabulosity.

Acting

Simmons has appeared in small roles in television and films including Beauty Shop along with Queen Latifah and Waist Deep. She has also appeared in music videos for Ginuwine, Usher, and made a brief appearance as one of the several beautiful women surrounding the police chief in the 2000 film, Little Nicky.

In 2003, Simmons signed on as one of the judges on America's Next Top Model, Cycle 1, and it was reported Simmons may return to the judging panel for Cycle 14. She has also been a co-host of Sony Television's syndicated talk show Life & Style.

On August 5, 2007 her reality TV show premiered on Style Network. Kimora: Life in the

Fab Lane chronicles her daily life and routine, along with her relationship with her two daughters Ming Lee and Aoki Lee Simmons. It now re-airs on E! Entertainment Television. Season two premiered on the Style network on April 20, 2008.

Personal life

 

On December 20, 1998, she married Russell Simmons. They have two daughters; Ming Lee (born January 2000) and Aoki Lee (born August 2002). Both Ming Lee and Aoki Lee model for Baby Phat Kids Collection. They live in the city of Los Angeles, California. They moved to Los Angeles from Saddle River, New Jersey.

Simmons and her husband officially separated in March 2006,^[4] saying the couple had split some time before, but still lived together. They would continue to work together on Phat Farm and Baby Phat clothing lines.

By March 2007, Simmons was dating actor and model Djimon Hounsou. In March 2008 she officially filed for divorce from Russell Simmons, which was finalized in January 2009.^[  She gave birth to a baby boy with Hounsou in May 2009, named Kenzo Lee Hounsou.

She established the Kimora Lee Simmons Scholarship Fund at her high school alma mater in St. Louis to provide college tuition support for academically successful girls with financial needs and is an active member of youth advocacy organizations including Amfar, The G&P Foundation, Keep a Child Alive, Hetrick-Martin Institute and Rush Philanthropic where she is on the Board of Directors.

The mayor of St. Louis presented Simmons the key to the city and named March 18, 2008 "Kimora Day" in St. Louis.

Simmons is childhood friends with Tyra Banks.
